Southern Gold Line

Southern Gold Line Prepared for Production

The Southern Gold Line is Endomines’ key development project on the Karelian Gold Line. The goal is to begin gold production around 2029–2030.

The project covers four gold deposits: Ukkolanvaara, Muurinsuo, Korvilansuo and Kuittila. They are located approximately 15 km south of the Pampalo mine.

The design of the new production plant includes assessments of the processing method, water treatment solutions, and the plant’s location. The aim is to build a modern facility that applies the best available technologies.

In addition to gold deposits, the area is also being examined for its production potential of tungsten—an EU defined critical mineral—and molybdenum, which is important for industry.

According to current plans, production in the new area will last approximately 13–20 years. Exploration will continue throughout operations with the aim of extending the mine’s life cycle.

The Project Progresses in Phases

Development of the Southern Gold Line proceeds step by step, from exploration and studies toward permitting and future production.

Exploration

Environmental Impact Assessment

The environmental impact assessment (EIA) related to the Southern Gold Line development is currently underway. The EIA process includes nature surveys and technical studies to examine potential impacts on the environment, water bodies, landscape, and nearby communities. Completion of the EIA is a prerequisite for the project to advance to the permitting phase.

Permitting, Zoning and Construction

Zoning proceeds in parallel with the environmental impact assessment. The EIA report will be completed in 2027, and the zoning plan will progress on the same timeline. Approval of the partial master plan is scheduled for early 2028. Separate permits — including mining and environmental permits — are required before mine construction can begin.

The objective is to start construction of the production plant and launch production before the end of the decade.

Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)

The EIA programme for the Southern Gold Line has been submitted to the Regional Licensing and Supervisory Authority and was published on 19 February. The process evaluates the project’s impacts on nature, water systems and nearby communities.
