Endomines Brought Gold and Glamour to the Mining Association’s Gala Evening

The ballroom of Dipoli in Espoo shimmered in golden hues as Endomines had the honour of hosting the Finnish Mining Association’s traditional gala dinner and dance on 20 March 2026. The theme of the evening was, naturally, gold – and it was everywhere: in the table settings, the décor, the dinner itself, and even in the delightful surprises revealed throughout the night.

A Moment of Meaning: Presentation of the Maan povi Jewelry Piece

Before dinner, the festive audience paused for a dignified and heartfelt moment. Endomines presented the winning design of a jewelry design competition jointly organized with the Hertta Carelia Association: the Maan povi (Bosom of the Earth) gold jewelry piece. The piece was handed over to the Association’s representative, Industrial Counsellor Erkko Kajander.

The winning design was created by Assi Aarnimaa-Leinonen and crafted from gold donated by Endomines from the Pampalo mine – gold that has quite literally been brought up from deep within the earth. Mr. Kajander will take the piece to the Hertta Carelia Association’s gala in April, where it will be presented to a woman from North Karelia who has been diagnosed with breast cancer. The jewelry is hoped to bring its wearer comfort and joy during a challenging time that affects not only her, but also those close to her.

North Karelian Flavours, Acrobatics and Star Performers

The dinner showcased flavours from North Karelia with a golden twist. Guests were served miniature Karelian pies, Arctic char, and as the sparkling cherry on top of the cake – edible gold dust. The atmosphere soon rose to exhilarating heights as acrobats and an impressive light show captivated the audience, leaving nearly everyone speechless with admiration.

The Sallad party band opened the dance floor with infectious energy, drawing mining professionals to dance almost instantly. When the evening was crowned by a performance from Anna Puu, the dance floor was packed. Guests also had the chance to join in singing, led by the drinking-song duo Iina Vaajamo and Pentti Vihanto.

The evening was hosted by physician and magician Martti Vannas, who kept the programme lively and entertaining throughout – and amused the audience with the help of a few “volunteer” assistants picked from the crowd.

Golden Luxury and Delightful Surprises

At the close of dinner, each guest received a small gold bar – a cardboard version that revealed chocolate gold coins inside, topped with a golden spoon. Everyone thus enjoyed their own “born with a golden spoon” moment, and one lucky guest received a genuine gold spoon made from Pampalo gold.

Endomines Also Took the Stage at the Annual General Meeting

Before the evening’s celebrations, Endomines’ CEO Kari Vyhtinen addressed the Mining Association’s Annual General Meeting. He presented Endomines, our rapidly accelerating growth, and developments in the gold market. The greatest attention, however, was drawn by AliveMine, our entirely new, transformative operating model for the mining industry, which was launched at the event.

AliveMine represents our path toward regenerative mining. It offers a holistic view of a mine’s entire lifecycle and its ecological and social impacts. The launch received abundant positive and enthusiastic feedback:

“This new operating model provided an excellent example of how we all should be thinking in the mining industry today – and above all, it created belief and hope that our industry truly has the opportunity to succeed,” said Hanna-Leena Heikkilä from Boliden.

An Evening Filled with Appreciation

The Mining Days and the gala evening as a whole received a wealth of praise. Guests marvelled at the creativity behind the performers and how seamlessly the programme flowed throughout the night. The atmosphere was warm, festive and uplifting from beginning to end – and, for us, truly worth its weight in gold.

Gold may have sparkled all evening, but above all, a strong sense of community shone throughout – and that is something we are especially proud of.
